Shirley Jean MacDonald, age 86, died March 29, 2018 in Daytona, Florida
with family by her side. She was born January 1, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois
to Raymond and Irene (Christopher) Andersen.
Shirley was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Ann Phelan and her
granddaughter, Crystal Bailey (Dylan). She is survived by her children,
Susan M. Buzaid (Jay), Barbara J. Thomas, Linda D. McPeek (David),
Keith A. MacDonald (Laurie Cecere), Jennifer L. Vigil. Also her beloved
grandchildren, Delilah B. Phelan, Lindsay S. Buzaid, Samantha C. Buzaid,
Christopher McPeek (Katie), Elliott McPeek (Olivia), Ryan McPeek, Luke
MacDonald, Kyle MacDonald, Ian Vigil, Emily Vigil, and her great
granddaughter, Brooklyn Bailey.
After coming to the Northeast in the mid 1950's, Shirley raised her family in
Connecticut and Massachusetts. She spent many years working as a
bookkeeper. She was an accomplished seamstress and opened a
successful quilt shop in MA where she taught quilting and made many
beautiful heirloom quilts for family and friends.
Upon retirement, she moved to Florida and spent 25 years volunteering
with organizations such as Literacy for the Blind, Florida Memorial Hospital,
Museum of Arts and Sciences and Daytona Beach Performing Arts. She
was a member of WISE.
Shirley enjoyed visits from her family and spending time with her wonderful
group of friends in Daytona area. Her family is extremely grateful for their
friendship and support, especially during her courageous battle this past
year.
Services will be private, at a later date. Donations may be made to
Hospice.
