IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stuart L
Stephens
August 17, 1948 – September 25, 2022
Stuart L. Stephens, 74 years old of Port Orange, FL, passed away on September 25, 2022 in Daytona Beach, FL, after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Stuart is survived by his wife Hon Stephens, his son Christopher Stephens, and his sister Suzanne Stephens Hyatt.
Preceded in death by his brother Richard (Rick) Stephens, his mother Marjorie Stephens, his father Stuart Stephens, his maternal grandmother Lottie V. Jones, and his paternal grandmother Mabel Zimmerman Bothner.
Stuart was born on August 17, 1948, to Stuart and Marjorie Stephens and grew up in Pennsville, NJ. As a child, he was an avid animal lover and had many unorthodox pets, including raccoons, a talking crow named "Jimmy", a skunk, and a fox. His mother would say, "He never met an animal - (wild or domesticated) that he did not want to bring home and care for,".
Stuart joined the Merchant Marines as a young adult and traveled the world through his occupation as well as leisurely with his wife. Stuart had many hobbies as an avid game and deer hunter, scuba diving, spear fishing, flying airplanes, and swimming. He enjoyed life in so many ways. He was a self taught, intelligent and outspoken individual, fluent in Spanish and political banter, well read, and found it impossible to keep his political opinions to himself. A generous and kind person, he was always willing to help others in need. He will be missed.
Services for Stuart will be private. He will be laid to rest in his hometown alongside his beloved brother and mother.
