September 5, 1936 – February 3, 2021
Sylvia L. Armitage, 84, of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday February
3, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 5,
1936 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Louis and Anna (Zawadzki) Lebda. Sylvia moved to
the Daytona Beach area in November of 1979 from Oak Forest, Illinois. She was a
member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church where she had once served as a Eucharist
minister and was a member of the Women's Club. Sylvia loved to dance the polka and
play bingo, but most of all she loved her family and was best known for her chicken
soup.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Richard Armitage, whom she married on
March 16, 1957; four children, Karen (Paul) Douglas of Port Orange, FL, Richard
(Becky) Armitage, Jr. of Port Orange, FL, Raymond (Robin) Armitage of Lake Mary,
FL, and John (Terri) Armitage of Alachua, FL; four siblings, Mary Ann (Jerry) Garrity
of Richland, MS, James Lebda of Oak Hill, FL, Janet Beckley of Oak Hill, FL, and
Robert (Mary Beth) Lebda of Kankakee, IL; ten grandchildren, Cindy (Jim) Diamond,
Mary Ann Douglas, Laura (Dane) Schlinsky, Amy (Cory) High, Kathy (Marcelo)
Carvalho, Cassidy Armitage, Faith Armitage, Jordyn Armitage, Cameron Strickland and
Wyatt Armitage; and four great-grandchildren, Liam High, Emily Schlinsky, Evan
Schlinsky and Avery High. "We Love You Moonpie"
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 8:30am on Friday February 19, 2021 at Our
Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 S. Clyde Morris Boulevard, Port Orange, FL 32129.
Inurnment will take place at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona
Beach, FL, immediately following.
Memorial Donations may be made in her memory to Halifax Health Hospice Care
Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 or to St. Jude Children's Research
Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
