Thelma R. Metts, 83, of Holly Hill, FL peacefully passed away August 29, 2014. A Visitation in her honor will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Cardwell Baggett & Summers Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm. Thelma was born February 9, 1931 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Rufus and Lexie (Mullins) Ray. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell South. She retired after 35 years of service with the position of Floor Supervisor. Thelma moved to Florida in 1985 to enjoy her retirement. She will be remembered for her passion for Bingo and slot machines. She also loved Elvis and Blue Grass music. Thelma was predeceased by her husband Gordon Metts. Gordon and Thelma were soulmates who thankfully found each other later in life. He was the love of her life for the six years they were together. Thelma leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving children: Terry Logan (Bill) of Port Orange, John Miller (Melissa) of Palm Coast, and Tana Vanderhooft (Tom) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; her beloved grandchildren: Kara, Chasity, Dustin, Chris, Kyle, and Ashley; her dear 5 great-grandchildren; and her three younger sisters: Marlene, Jane, and Phyllis.
