Theodore E. Johnson, Sr., 91, passed away June 4, 2012. A visitation in his honor will be held on Thursday June 7, 2012 from 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M at Cardwell Funeral Home, 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, Florida 32119. He is survived by, one daughter, Charlotte Johnson Boyd of Port Orange, Florida; one son, Ted E. Johnson, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, and four grandchildren; Michelle Boyd LaPlant, Theresa Boyd Hatcher, Lisa Boyd DelManzano, Justin Johnson and seven great-grandchildren; Meagan and Josh Hatcher, Erin Donnelly, Jade, Emily and Tristan DelManzano and Chloe Sibley. Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Gladys Josephine (Trahan) Johnson, his son, Glenn M. Johnson of Crowley, his parents, Otis and Hattie (Lastinger) Johnson; brother, Myron Johnson, and three sisters, Mary Louise Johnson, Lillie (Johnson) Stevens and Geneva (Johnson) Miro. He was born in Port Orange, Florida on March 12, 1921. Ted is a descendent of Edward and Rose (Barber) McDonald & Miles and Matilda (Crawford) Lastinger, whose families arrived in Florida in the early 1840's and were some of the first residents and pioneers of the Port Orange area. His Grandparents were William and Mary Elizabeth (McDonald) Johnson. He and his wife lived in Crowley, LA from 1968 to 2009. Mr. Johnson is a retired Plasterer and commercial fisherman. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the 101st and later the 511 Airborne Paratroopers and due to his combat record he was chosen to be one of the elite honor guards that accompanied General MacArthur to the peace treaty signing on the USS Missouri. Mr. Johnson loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He and his son, Glenn, built their own shrimp boat. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley, Louisiana.
