Thomas David Hice, 76, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away on September 21. He was born on May 5, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Robert William and Esther Louise Hice. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, step father John Schultz, brother Robert Hice, and his wife, Donna. He is survived by his sisters, Sandy Yonika, Nancy (Larry) Miller, and Cindy (Charles) Crabtree.

He leaves behind two children: his daughter, Lori (David) Gall of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and her children, Jacob, Casey (Kortney), and Blake Cornett; and his son, Thomas (Shelly) Hice of Brainerd, Minnesota, and their children, Kandace (Travis) Koch, Samantha (Joey) Wellen, and Peyton Hamlin. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Rowen Koch and Weston Wellen.

Tom graduated from Norwin High School in Irwin, Pennsylvania, in 1968. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving with the Military Airlift Command. After his military service, Tom built a career in the trucking industry, retiring in 2008. Those who knew him in the trucking world may remember him by his CB handle, "Crystal Ball."

Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-riding his Harley-Davidson, golfing, fishing, boating and cooking, He was somewhat of an "endcap connoisseur," and rarely passed up a kitchen gadget or interesting find. He loved cooking and sharing a good meal with others.

Tom was known for his boisterous laugh, generous spirit, and kind heart. Above all else, his greatest joy came from his deep and abiding faith in God and his service to the Daytona Beach Drive-In Christian Church. He regularly wrote prayers for their church services and especially cherished preparing for the church's living nativity. His faith was not simply something he believed-it was something he lived and shared with those around him.

Tom noted that his greatest accomplishment was accepting God's gift of grace. His faith, laughter, generosity, and love for his family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His life was a gift, his laughter a memory, and his faith a legacy that will live on in those he leaves behind.
