Torrence Emerson Broxton, known affectionately as Tata, passed away on November 20, 2023, at the age of 63 in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was born on October 15, 1960, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to Lawrence and Mildred Broxton. Torrence was a great brother, father, uncle, and friend, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Torrence dedicated 35 years of his life to education and retired as a Principal from Volusia County Schools. He obtained his higher education from the University of Central Florida and Nova Southeastern University. Torrence was passionate about his work and made a positive impact on countless students' lives throughout his career.
In his free time, Torrence enjoyed boating, fishing, and cheering on the UCF football team. He found solace and joy in these hobbies, creating memories that will be cherished by his loved ones.
Torrence is survived by his sons, Timothy and Michael Broxton, and his grandchildren, Ty'Alexandria Broxton and Timothy Coney. He is also survived by his brother, Lawrence Broxton (Diane Prindeville), his sister, Teresa Broxton, his nieces, Marisa, Brianna, and Michaela Broxton, his special cousins, Jacqueline Gattis and Matilda Riley Gaddy and his best friends Andrew Badie and Oswald "Chip" Bronson. Torrence was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mildred Broxton, and his brother, Ray Broxton.
A private memorial service will be held to honor Torrence's life, as it was his wish. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Cardwell Baggett & Summers, located in South Daytona Beach, FL.
The family wishes to thank the many friends and caregivers who so lovingly cared for Torrence during his long illness.
Torrence will be remembered for his dedication to education, his love for family and friends, and his passion for his hobbies. May he rest in peace.
