Obituary

Tuong "Ted" Phan, of Holly Hill, 76, passed away on Wednesday, March 5th, 2014. Ted, a Vietnamese refugee, immigrated to Florida with the help from First Christian Church of Daytona Beach in 1980 with his wife "Tai", grandmother "A Thai" who passed in 1993, and 8 children. Ted and Tai were married for 51 years. Ted was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather who worked tirelessly sometime with 2 and 3 jobs to help raised his family so his children can fulfill their American dreams. Ted was an employee at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach for over 30 years. Ted enjoyed meeting people and always had a big smile on his face. Ted was most proud of his children's accomplishments and his enormous personality and friendly smile will be sorely missed by his family, especially the 15 grandchildren, and those who know him. Ted is survived by his loving wife, Tai; 8 children, Hao (Thuy), Mary (Albert), Henry (Shirley), Linda (John), Sam (Ruby), Dinah (Jerry), Victor (Roselle) and Nelly (Jimmy); and 15 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Brian, Joseph, Nicolas, Danielle, Kate, Skyler, Julie, Vincent, Samantha, Hayden, James, Francis, Tuong-Vy and Alison. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 13th, 2014 from 11 A.M to 1 P.M. at Cardwell Baggett and Summers Funeral Home, 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, FL 32129. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ted's memory to the First Christian Church of Daytona Beach, 326 S Palmetto Ave, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
