Vera W. Murphy, of Daytona Beach, Fl., passed away Sunday December 31, 2017. She was 90 years old and had been a long time resident of Pelican Bay.
Vera was born in Arley, AI. on March 23, 1927. She graduated from Meek Senior High School. Starting out in Jasper Al. in March 1947 she worked for Southern Bell Tel. and Tel Co. she then transferred to Miami, FI. in August 1949 where she held several positions during her career.
She celebrated her 33rd Anniversary with the company and then retired in August 1980.
Vera loved life, her husband, and her family dearly. Enjoying many hobbies and activities. She married her husband, Alfred V. Murphy, on August 26, 1955 who worked with the Miami Police Department. They were married for 55 years before his passing in March 2011.
The third daughter of William W. Waldrep, Vera is survived by her sister, Clinie Cleghorn (Moore Haven,Fl), brother, Billy Waldrep (Arley, Al), and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Myrtie Waldrep, her loving husband, Alfred
V. Murphy, sisters Clera Waldrep Benson, Clara Waldrep Elliott, Charlsey Waldrep Brown, Martha Waldrep Hess, Mary Waldrep Thomas, and brothers C. Columbus Waldrep, A. Olen Waldrep, William (Ducky) Waldrep, and James (Jimmy) Waldrep.
Vera was a light in our lives and very dear to all of us. She often said her deep religious faith inspired by her upbringing provided her with the strength of character to keep her happy and positive attitude and great zest for life!
She will be missed and remembered lovingly. Forever.
