Verna L. Hunter Gillam of South Daytona, FL passed away on August 1, 2014. Services of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 7:00pm, with a visitation two hours prior to the service at funeral home. Verna was the daughter of Art and Della Hunter of Pittsburgh, PA, born on December 14, 1927. She is survived by her son, Thomas L. Gillam and wife Kimberly of South Daytona and a daughter Julie A. Hart and her husband John of Port Orange, FL. Verna is also survived by her grandchildren; April Harvey, Danielle Liguori and Jake Hart of Florida, Stephanie Gillam of California, Thomas Gillam, Jr. of Pennsylvania and Jake Gillam of Pennsylvania. Her great grandchildren are Angelina and Luis Michael Melendez, Verna was their beloved GiGi.. Verna was pre-deceased by her husband, Jack Gillam of 39 years, her granddaughter Christine Gillam, a dear friend of 18 years Arden (Butch)Staaf, Jr. . Verna lived in Pennsylvania for 70 years and came to Florida in 1995. Verna was a Secretary in Pennsylvania and volunteered at Meals on Wheels in Florida. Verna enjoyed games, gambling, reading and puzzles. Memorial contributions may be made in Verna's memory to Diabetes Foundation and R.A. Association. Inurnment will be held in Pennsylvania at a later date.
