William Paul Dauksis, 88, of Ponce Inlet, FL formerly of Wilkes Barre, PA, passed from this life on September 29, 2013. William was preceded in death by his son, Larry Dauksis, daughter, Cathy Townsend, step-son, Alfred Lambis, Jr., brother Joseph and sisters; Helen, Marie, June and Jean. He leaves behind a loving and caring family which include; his beloved wife Hazel, his loving daughter Patricia McLean (Robert) and daughter-in-law Susan Dauksis. William also leaves behind his brothers; Edward Day and George Dauksis, his cherished grandchildren; Ryan Dauksis, Pete Lumbis, III, Kittie Ann Palmer, Patty O'Connell and Kristie McLean; and great-grandchildren; Nash, Alex, Maggie and Katy. Last but not least William leaves behind his beloved friend Shadow. William was born on December 5, 1924 in Hunlock Creek, PA to the late Joseph and Rosalia Dauksis, where he grew up. He moved to Philadelphia as a young man, working in the dockyards for some time before moving to Wilkes Barre, PA where he built a home and started his own construction company. After raising his family he and his wife decided to move to Ponce Inlet where he remained active with the Lion's Club with whom he was honored a lifetime membership but also the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award, which is the highest award given to a member of the Lion's Club. One of William's greatest loves, after his wife Hazel, was being a Building Contractor, but not only could he build buildings, he built a car as well. William holds a Registered U.S. Patent for building a car powered by both battery and fuel, far before it was ever popular. William will be remembered as a man who was always helping people, whether it was for the Children's Activities Committee in Ponce Inlet or with maintenance projects around the Ponce Inlet Community Center he always lent a hand. He was such a help that he was presented with 'The Citizen of Year Award' in Ponce Inlet for 2011. William will mostly be remembered for being the best Grandfather. A Memorial Visitation is scheduled for Saturday October 19, 2013 at the Lohman Funeral Home - Port Orange, located at 1201 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, FL 32127 from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the Dauksis family would like donations to be made in William's memory to the Ponce Inlet Lion's Club, 4670 S. Peninsula Dr. Ponce Inlet, FL 32127.
