William James Malone III "Bill", 92, passed away peacefully on Monday September 12, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida. Born Dec. 9th, 1923 in Macon, GA, Bill served in the army during WWII. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he spent most of his professional career as an engineer with General Motors. He was married to his late wife Dorothy (Dottie) Ruth Souther for 47 years and raised 3 children in Atlanta, Georgia and Framingham, MA. He was predeceased by his parents William J. Malone Jr and Annie Claire Parham Malone and a sister Mabel Rebecca Colquitt. He leaves behind a sister Annie Claire Malone Pierce, 3 children, Marilyn M. Geyer and husband Phillip, Peggy Malone and husband Mike Lowry, and Michael J. Malone and wife Carolyn. Left behind are also 3 grandchildren, Patrick, Jonathan & Stephen Malone, and 5 step grandchildren, Susannah Geyer, Eric Geyer (Sarah), Gretchen Griffin (Scott), Vickie Lowry Saraga (Rubin) and Christopher Rogers. Also 2 nephews James Colquitt and Michael Colquitt.
In retirement Bill and Dottie lived in Daytona Beach and enjoyed playing bridge, dancing and taking cruises with their many friends. In recent years he was lovingly cared for at Brookdale Cypress Village Assisted Living in Jacksonville, FL.
Graveside services for the family are being arranged by Cardwell, Baggett & Summers, 3571 South Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, FL 32129 and will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 320 White Street, Daytona Beach, Florida 32114 at 1:00 on Friday September 16, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held at Brookdale Cypress Village, 4600 Middleton Park Circle E., Jacksonville, FL 32250 at 1:30pm Saturday, Sept. 17 (904) 223-6100.
