W. Batchelor
January 5, 1936 – May 3, 2021
William (Bill) W. Batchelor was born on January 5, 1936, in Washington, D.C. to Leroy E. and Bonnie E. Batchelor and passed into eternal life on May 3, 2021.
Bill grew up in Springfield, Virginia and attended American University in Washington, D.C. Upon graduation he began a 37-year career in the credit union industry, retiring as Senior Vice President, Credit and Mortgage Services at Pentagon Federal Credit Union on December 31, 2000.
Upon retirement Bill served in many leadership roles for Kiwanis and Rotary service clubs as well as professional organizations such as the Credit Union Executives Society, and both Virginia and Florida credit union leagues.
Bill and Jean moved from Virginia to Florida in 2001 building their retirement home in Port Orange. They became active members of New Hope Baptist Church in Port Orange where Bill served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and was a member of the Board of Trustees and Church Council.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean; his daughter Tracy and husband Andrew Humston of Gainesville, Virginia, and son Jeffrey and wife Carolyn of Renton, Washington as well as his grandchildren Matthew and Emily Humston and Kirsten and Jarrett Batchelor. Bill was predeceased by his sister Carole Rogers and her husband Buck. Surviving siblings include Joseph (Marsha) Batchelor, Linda Marvel, and John (Margaret) Batchelor, all of Port Orange. Bill was always known for his upbeat personality and smile and will be missed by many family members and friends.
A celebration of life for Bill will be held at 2pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at New Hope Baptist Church, 1675 Taylor Road, Port Orange, Florida 32128. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to your favorite charity or New Hope Baptist Church.
