William P. Walker
October 31, 1936 – August 7, 2024
William P. Walker, known affectionately as "Bill," passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 7, 2024,
at the age of 87. Born on October 31, 1936, in Ardmore, PA, Bill lived a life marked by faith, family, and
service.
A graduate of Lower Merion High School, Bill went on to earn his degree from the Philadelphia College of
Pharmacy and Science. His career as a chemist took him to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and later to
the Philadelphia Mint, where he made lasting contributions to his field and formed many friendships.
Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army, demonstrating the same dedication and integrity
that he carried throughout his life.
He was the devoted husband of the late Donna K. Walker, with whom he shared many wonderful years.
Bill was a loving father to his children, Melinda (Tom) Matula and Will (Christine) Walker and a proud
grandfather to Aria Walker, Alden Walker, Asher Walker, and Liam Matula, who will forever cherish his
love and guidance.
Bill was also a beloved brother to the late Bob Walker and brother-in-law to Lenora Walker, with whom he
shared a close and special bond.
Bill was a man of deep faith and a devoted Christian who found great joy in his church community. He
served faithfully as a pianist, choir director, and song leader for many years at New Hope Baptist Church
in Port Orange, FL, bringing comfort and inspiration to those around him through his music and
leadership.
A friend to many, Bill will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and unwavering dedication to those
he loved. His life was a testament to his strong values, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the
privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held on August 28th, 2024 at 5pm at New Hope Baptist Church in Port Orange, FL,
where Bill spent many happy years serving and worshiping. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that
donations be made in Bill's memory to New Hope Baptist Church, 1675 Taylor Rd, Port Orange, FL
32128.
Rest in peace, Bill. You are now reunited with Donna. Your legacy of love and faith will live on in the
hearts of those who loved you.
